Marriage Preparation Retreat Program

St. Anthony of Padua and St. Helen of the Cross

Marriage Preparation Retreat Program

In keeping with Diocese of Tucson instruction, all couples seeking to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony must follow specific protocols. Couples should gather their sacramental history by obtaining an updated Baptism certificate and once completed make an appointment with the pastor or his delegate at the local parish. Previously married and divorced individuals should also speak with the local pastor or his delegate regarding Diocese policy and programs available prior to attempting a second marriage.

One of the other obligations required by the Diocese is participation in an approved pre-Cana instruction program. St. Anthony of Padua and St. Helen of the Cross have joined together to provide a marriage retreat for couples who have met the obligations listed above. The retreats are normally scheduled on a Friday evening from 6 to 9 pm and Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. The retreat agenda includes discussion about the Sacrament of Matrimony, Stewardship of the family and church, and developing the skills and behaviors to promote permanent lifetime marriages through love and fidelity.

The retreats are normally scheduled in September and May of each year. Please contact Deacon Steve at dcnsteve@stanthonycg.org or by calling the parish office at 520.836.0601, opt2 then 7.
