Fr. Patrick J Murphy Council 3136 Life Award Presented

At the 116th Annual Arizona State Convention held on May 19 & 20, 2023 in Scottsdale, AZ, Service Program Awards were presented to state councils for their activities to support Life, Community, Faith, and Family. The LIFE AWARD was awarded to Fr. Patrick J Murphy Council 3136 in Casa Grande. Grand Knight Daniel G. Spellman, shown accepting the award.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal organization with more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members worldwide. The Knights was founded in 1882 to render financial aid to members and their families and is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, and relief efforts.
Worldwide during 2012, in addition to raising and donating more than $167.5 million to charitable needs and projects, Knights volunteered more than 70 million hours of their time to charitable causes. In Casa Grande we currently have 118 members. We raise money for Special Olympics, and St. Vincent de Paul. We donate to the Tradition of Faith campaign and support the parish with numerous volunteer hours for projects. We also provide financial support to four Seminarians. If you are not currently a Knight, I ask you to please take some time to consider making us a part of your spiritual life. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with our community, supporting St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, enhancing your own faith and protecting and enhancing your family life.
